Falling Pickaxe

The pioneering idle-miner type slot game

Drop the pickaxe and watch the fall as it breaks its way down block after block in the official Falling Pickaxe game. Every strike depletes its durability, but lucky hits crack open copper, gold, diamond, or emerald for the biggest win – use TNT to blast a clear path, the upgrade arrow to supersize your pickaxe mid-fall, and the workbench to forge an upgraded tool.

What Is Falling Pickaxe?

Falling Pickaxe is a pioneering casino game by the developer studio Pixmove, combining familiar slot game mechanics with more modern casual game elements. Players spin a single reel slot to land pickaxe symbols, which fall onto a towering stack of Minecraft-style blocks. Blocks can be broken when struck by the pickaxe, awarding win multipliers. The durability of the falling pickaxe depletes with each strike. The sum of all awarded multipliers when the pickaxe durability reaches zero is the total win for the round.

Falling Pickaxe Theme & Design

Falling Pickaxe takes its primary design inspiration from the Minecraft video game, where replicated symbols and blocks are used to create the environment. This includes pickaxes, TNT, crafting stations (workbenches) and various blocks to mine such as stone, redstone and diamond. The gameplay concept however draws inspiration from popular idle-miner games featured regularly on Tiktok live streams and clips, where a pickaxe free falls endlessly down a tower of blocks. The screenshots below compare the visual of Falling Pickaxe against typical idle-miner games and Minecraft.

  • Falling Pickaxe gameplay screenshot showing the pickaxe striking down onto the towering stack of blocks
  • A minecraft style idle-miner game from tik-tok showing a pickaxe free falling onto a stack of blocks
  • A screenshot from the Minecraft video game showcasing a towering wall of blocks among a grass-covered mountain canyon

RTP, Game Modes & Max Win

Falling Pickaxe is a 95.0% RTP game, which is slightly lower than most casino game releases these days although still relatively competitive. The maximum win however is noticeably lower than most games, capping out at ×160 your bet. Note the bet range is operator-configurable — 0.10 to 1,000 is the standard setup, though the game stake range can fluctuate when comparing between different online casinos.

The Falling Pickaxe demo featured on our website does not allow cash outs or winning withdrawals. You will need to play the real-money game at an online casino to cash out any wins.

Choose Your Bet Size

Bets can be placed anywhere from 0.10 to 1,000 in the standard configuration, though different configurations can be found when checking online platforms. Your current bet value is always visible on the bet display at the bottom of the game page. Adjust your bet value by selecting the + and − buttons found either side of the play button.

Press Play to Spin The Slot

The game starts when you place a bet to spin the single reel slot. Each spin will land on either a red cross, or one of the four pickaxes – Wooden Pickaxe, Stone Pickaxe, Iron Pickaxe or Diamond Pickaxe.

If you land a red cross, your bet is taken and the round is over. You will earn one of seven progression steps found on the outer ring of the single reel slot. Land seven red crosses in a row and complete all progression steps to guarantee your next bet lands one of the four pickaxe types.

Drop the Pickaxe!

The pickaxe will fall out of the slot reel onto the towering stack of blocks. The pickaxe will begin to strike the blocks as it falls, breaking them open and digging deeper down into the tower.

High-value blocks will award win multipliers, which accrue throughout the round to show a total win amount in real time at the bottom of the page. Each strike of the blocks depletes your pickaxe durability. The round ends when your pickaxe durability is fully depleted. At this stage, the sum of all multipliers from breaking blocks is added to your bet and awarded as a win.

Symbols, Blocks and Special Items

There are five symbols that can land on the slot, seven block types to break and collect wins from, and four special items to help you prolong the round and gather multipliers quicker.

Slot Symbols

When spinning the single-reel slot you want to aim to land one of the four pickaxes and avoid the red cross. The list below explores the characteristics of each symbol and how it impacts the round.

  • Red Cross symbolRed Cross – Instant loss, no round is played. Adds one ring progression.
  • Wooden Pickaxe symbolWooden Pickaxe – Lowest value pickaxe. 100 durability points.
  • Stone Pickaxe symbolStone Pickaxe – Medium value pickaxe. 150 durability points.
  • Iron Pickaxe symbolIron Pickaxe – High value pickaxe. 200 durability points.
  • Diamond Pickaxe symbolDiamond Pickaxe – Highest value pickaxe. 400 durability points.

Special Items

Special items act like upgrades or boosters when struck on the game page. Each special item has a unique effect which can dramatically change the outcome of the game round.

  • TNT special itemTNT – TNT explodes and destroys all blocks within a close proximity for massive damage, collecting all win multipliers from eligible blocks.
  • Workbench special itemWorkbench – Upgrades the pickaxe to the next tier (e.g wood to stone) and completely replenishes the durability.
  • Upgrade Arrow special itemUpgrade Arrow – Temporarily increases the pickaxe’s size by ×1.5 for 3 seconds, increasing the mining path width. Collecting another upgrade arrow while the first is active will increase its size to ×2 the original. Another consecutive upgrade arrow increases it once more to ×2.5 the original.
  • Slime Block special itemSlime Block – The Slime block does not deplete durability when struck and can not be destroyed. Instead, it propels the pickaxe up and away from it to reach new heights and blocks.

Block Paytable

The blocks destroyed during the round by the pickaxe can award win multipliers. Collected win multipliers are summed and awarded at the end of the round as a win by multiplying your bet by the total. The HP of the block is the amount of durability depleted by the pickaxe to destroy it.

Diamond 20HP ×1

Bonus Buy

Bonus Buy mode allows you to skip spinning the single-reel slot to try and land a pickaxe and instead, immediately guarantee any of the four pickaxe types by paying a premium price.

The price for each pickaxe increases as you move up the pickaxe tiers. The higher the pickaxe tier, the more starting durability you have to break into the blocks. Therefore, the higher the premium bet price paid.

The win probability when buying a bonus is no different from landing the same pickaxe on the single-reel slot.

Auto Play Mode

To enjoy the rounds passively without needing to press the game controls, you can configure auto play to run the game rounds consecutively for you. This is particularly good if you plan to have a long session and want to kick back and see the rounds playout in front of you while relaxing. Falling Pickaxe has pre-defined auto play values, ranging from 10 to infinite. The bet value you set prior to opening the auto play configuration menu is carried over when confirming the number of rounds to automate.

Always be mindful when using auto play. Ensure you have the correct bet size set to begin with, and don't leave your device unattended without first stopping the automation.

A Word From Pixmove

Here's what Pixmove have to say about Falling Pickaxe, as seen on their provider website here.

Drop the pickaxe and watch the dirt fly as it smashes through block after block on its way down. Every strike chips away its durability, but the right hit cracks open copper, gold, diamond, or emerald for a payout — while TNT blasts a path clear, the upgrade arrow supersizes your tool mid-fall, and the workbench forges it into something stronger. One spin can turn a humble wooden pickaxe into a diamond-tier digging machine, and the deeper it falls, the bigger the haul gets.
